City Skate “Rolls” Into Skyline Park, Brings Free Roller Skating and the Return of Skyline Beer Garden to Downtown Denver 
The Downtown Denver Partnership is proud to produce City Skate, presented by Southwest Airlines, open May 20-Oct. 2, 2022. 

DENVER (May 17, 2022) – The Downtown Denver Partnership (Partnership) is proud to bring the first-ever Downtown Denver outdoor roller rink, City Skate, presented by Southwest Airlines, to Skyline Park. The inaugural season kicks off with a Media Preview Day from 10:00-11:00am on Friday May 20, 2022, and will open to the public at 5:00pm that night. The rink will be open daily through Oct. 2, 2022. 

 

Preview Day will feature a live DJ, refreshments, performances from Denver Urban Skate Troop, as well as representatives from the Partnership, City and County of Denver, and City Skate sponsor, Southwest Airlines. 

 

City Skate also marks the return of the Skyline Beer Garden, both of which showcase the Partnership’s commitment to bring fun, free, and family-friendly activities to downtown’s parks and public spaces.  
 

City Skate and Skyline Beer Garden support the strategies in the 2007 Downtown Area Plan, the long-term strategy for downtown, including activating Skyline Park as a central gathering place for the downtown community, as well as creating an outdoor downtown that provides residents, workers, and visitors to gather and play to foster a balance between urban life and the outdoors.

“We’ve seen so much success with the Downtown Denver Rink during the winter months and wanted to find a way to bring that same experience to downtown employees, residents and visitors during the summer” said Sharon Alton, Sr. Vice President of Downtown Experience for the Downtown Denver Partnership. “We’re so excited to bring back the Skyline Beer Garden and free mini golf as part of City Skate to create a holistic outdoor destination for summer fun.”

Opening Day at 5:00pm on May 20, 2022 will kick off the summer season and the beginning of the Partnership’s summer events and activations. 

​

“The Partnership is committed to building a thriving and welcoming Downtown Denver, and one way we do that is by creating beautiful and activated parks and public spaces. Activations like City Skate and Skyline Beer Garden are just one component of our strategy as we attract people and companies to downtown, creating a vibrant downtown ecosystem,” said Alton.

Throughout the season, skating is free, with skate rentals available for $7 for kids 12 and under and $9 for those 13 and over. Mini golf is also free, and the return of Skyline Beer Garden will feature rotating taps from local Colorado breweries throughout the season.
